Strength remains in the Channel Islands property markets while Investec remains the top lender for the second year running[1]

The property market in the Channel Islands remains strong and continues to attract investment both locally and internationally, according to Jane Niles, Head of Real Estate at Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited (Investec).

Writing recently in Property Week, Jane highlighted the stability of the Channel Islands as a clear attraction for investors seeking enhanced yields and strong tenancies. The islands’ status as globally recognised offshore finance centres, with world-class professional services in situ deliver a stable real estate investment environment.

In the article Jane says, “demand in all aspects of the market has been high and the investment opportunity is increasingly attracting attention.”

In 2021, the Investec team had a record year in loan volumes, providing investment and development finance for Channel Islands and UK real estate. Investec has also topped the table of Private Bank lending in the Channel Islands for the last two years as the leading lender among Private Banks, for property developers, investors, and private mortgages, and was named Private Bank of the Year, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, at the 2022 Citywealth IFC Awards.

Jane said: “Both the quality and innovative nature of the projects Investec has funded demonstrate that, developers and real estate investors alike believe in the underlying resilience of the economies and property markets in Guernsey and Jersey.

“We have invested in our Real Estate division and now have one of the largest teams of lending professionals in the Channel Islands. This strength and depth mean we can find the best solutions for our clients, no matter how complex the deal may be. For us, adaptability and close client relationships have been key to supporting them.”
