The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF) was surprised and extremely grateful to receive a very generous donation of £15,000 from the Guernsey Round Table recently.
The Guernsey Round Table are part of the organising committee for the Skipton Swimarathon. The PPBF were one of the benefactors last year, receiving £15,000 to go towards one of their two compassionate housing flats.
Normally the Guernsey Round Table use their share of Swimarathon funds to give to various local causes and individuals. However, they have had a very good couple of years of fundraising.
“We heard that the PPBF was looking for £15,000 to cover the running and maintenance costs of a second compassionate housing flat in Southampton. A few of our members have benefited from the Foundation and so it was decided to donate our share of the Swimarathon funds to the PPBF for the second flat, which coincidently came to £15,000. We’re so glad we can help;” said Joe Oliver from the Guernsey Round Table.
Jo Priaulx, Co-Founder of PPBF replied; “This is wonderful news, thank you so much. We have had trouble with the boiler in the flat as well, so this has come at a much-needed time. It’s gratefully appreciated and difficult to put into words how much this will help so many families in our community.”
The two PPBF flats, Aggies Burrow and Isaac’s Pad are rarely empty. They are a home-from-home for local families going through the toughest of times. They provide a lifeline only a stone’s-throw to Southampton Hospital and a real sanctuary for families of either premature babies or critically poorly children. The proximity of the flats to the hospital means that parents can be at their child’s bedside at any time, day or night, helping to keep families together and making a difficult time a little easier.
“The generosity truly will make a huge difference in helping us to continue to provide invaluable support to local families going through immensely difficult times;” concludes Jo.
