Health Eye: Don’t focus on what’s missing

Missing… this is something a lot of people will be focusing on at the moment.

  • The gym is missing
  • The weekend socials are missing
  • The office is missing
  • The hot sun is missing

When we focus on what’s missing and put all our attention on limitations then you are always going to struggle to feel motivated.

If you focus on what is now available though, you can start getting ahead of those that are focused on what’s missing.

More time at the weekends to get active (without a hangover)

More time during the week when you are not commuting to work

If you immediately fill that extra time with useless rubbish, audit that!

See what kind of things you’ve brought into the new-found time.

Are you trying to compensate for things that weren’t serving your progress, or are you getting productive with new things that will.

A good strategy is to take advantage of every resource that is still available, in a bid to achieve small results and build as much daily momentum as possible.

This will boost your confidence and mood.

Address your goals, and yes you might have to adapt them – but you should be regularly doing that anyway as you grow.

If the goal posts have moved then just adjust your aim.

Focusing on negativity and pessimism will only breed more, and if your peer group is continually focusing on the negative, CHANGE IT.

This is where 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭-𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 are paramount. They keep you moving forward, while the herd stays static.

Be a shark, not a sheep.
