Education chiefs in Guernsey have written to parents and guardians of children in the island to say they understand if they’ve been left uncertain by plans to introduce a two-secondary school model.
It means there will be two schools for 11 to 18 year olds in the island, each with a sixth form, but beyond that the details are scant.
The letter says: “We understand that you may be feeling unsure over what the States agreed and what this means for you and your family. Please be assured your child’s learning and wellbeing remains the most important thing for all of us working in school and across Education Services.”
It offers one small bit of detail which is that it’s understood St Anne’s School in Alderney, plus Le Murier and Les Voies School will continue to operate as they do now.
A new committee will be elected by the States on 7 February.
The letter concludes by saying: “We understand that you may have a range questions about what this decision means for you and your children. At this time we are unable to provide any definitive answers until the new committee is in place and further planning has been completed.”
