Business feedback sought to gauge appetite for Jersey to Rennes airline

The Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Jersey Business have launched a survey seeking the views of local businesses on establishing a direct air route between Jersey and Rennes. There is currently no direct flight available between Jersey and France and this forms part of the ongoing work that both organisations have been conducting over the past year, exploring business growth opportunities in economic trade between Jersey and France.

Jersey Chamber of Commerce President, Jennifer Carnegie, says: :A new route between Jersey and France would need to be sustainable, and we have identified opportunities in France to offer Jersey businesses new training and skills resources, coupled with education facilities, suppliers and markets; of which may not have previously been considered. We are keen to assess what potential benefits a direct air link into Europe might bring and encourage local businesses to come forward and give their opinions.”

Rennes is well positioned for developing trade and business within the region or using it as a hub to other destinations. Well renowned for its innovation in media, telecommunications and information technologies, Rennes is undergoing huge development and growth, fuelled by its connectivity to Paris. Rennes airport currently handles 850,000 passengers per year and with plans to expand, it already has very good connectivity with France and Europe including direct links to Paris, Geneva, Amsterdam, Madrid and Barcelona. The airport also provides a courtesy bus service every 15 minutes to Rennes railway station to allow people to connect with central Paris by high speed train in only 85 minutes.
