Young inventors shine in Resolution IT’s 2025 Jersey Design Challenge

Resolution IT has announced the Jersey winners of its 2025 Design Challenge – a yearly initiative celebrating the creativity and ingenuity of young minds across the Channel Islands.

Now in its fourth year, the challenge invites pupils from school years 3 to 6 to imagine and design innovative wearable gadgets.

This year’s entries showcased an inspiring range of ideas, from language-translating headphones and hover boots to futuristic sunglasses and extendable robotic hands. With so many brilliant concepts submitted, the judging panel had a tough time narrowing down the finalists.

As part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement, Resolution IT partnered this year with the Jersey Bulls Foundation, adding a charitable dimension to the competition. During the awards ceremony, Foundation Director Jonathon Buesnel shared insights into the organisation’s work supporting young people through sport.

Headline sponsor PlainSail generously donated two Meta Quest VR headsets for the overall winners in Jersey and Guernsey. Additional prizes were kindly provided by Fort, Clicksmith, Spring Insure, LTS Tax, NSM, Aladdin’s Cave, and Blue Islands.

Congratulations to this year’s Jersey winners:

  • First Place: Freya Smith – St Lawrence Primary School
  • Second Place: Isla Bowden – FCJ Primary School
  • Third Place: Thea Wood – St Lawrence School
  • Jersey Bulls Foundation Award: Ivy Martins – FCJ Primary School
  • Innovation Award: Casper Bosio – FCJ Primary School

In recognition of the winning design, St Lawrence Primary School also received a £500 donation from Resolution IT.

Dane Bryans, Managing Director of Resolution IT Jersey, commented: “A huge thank you to all the students who took part. The creativity and effort that went into the designs was truly impressive, making it no easy task to choose our winners. We’re also grateful to the Jersey Bulls Foundation for their partnership, our generous sponsors for donating such fantastic prizes, and to all the schools who embraced the challenge this year.”
