Ultra endurance athlete and long distance cyclist Mark Beaumont, BEM, will share highlights from his world record-breaking adventures when he visits the Bailiwick next month to speak at the Institute of Directors’ (IoD) bi-annual dinner on 4 July.
During a decade-long career as an endurance cyclist and adventurer, Mark has smashed the circumnavigation cycling world record twice, with documentaries, events and books about his adventure making him a household name.
In 2017, his epic ride saw him circle the globe, starting and finishing in Paris and crossing 16 countries across four continents in 78 days and 14 hours, averaging 240 miles a day.
Tickets are now on sale for the IoD’s bi-annual gala evening. The dinner, which is sponsored by Brooks Macdonald, celebrates the achievements of directors receiving their IoD Company Direction Programme Certificate, Diploma in Company Direction and Chartered Director awards.
John Clacy, Chairman of the IoD, said: ‘Our guest speakers are always chosen for their inspiring achievements, and welcoming an athlete of Mark’s calibre to Guernsey will be a highlight of the IoD’s event calendar. We are looking forward to hearing about his phenomenal endurance achievements as we celebrate the success of our directors who have completed their qualifications.’
Kevin Boscher, CIO at Brooks Macdonald, said: ‘One of Guernsey’s key strengths has always been its ability to demonstrate high quality leadership right across its private and public sectors, and there’s no doubt that, in an increasingly complex world, that will continue to be the case. With that in mind, I’m delighted that we are able to support this dinner and help recognise the fantastic achievements of colleagues and contacts who have committed to demonstrating their professional excellence.’
The IoD’s bi-annual dinner takes place at Guernsey’s Duke of Richmond Hotel on Wednesday 4 July. A drinks reception, sponsored by RBS International will commence at 7:00pm.
