The winners of Jersey Finance’s fourth Sustainable Finance Awards were announced at a special ceremony last week.
Taking place at Cineworld, the Awards once again aimed to celebrate local firms and individuals who have made a valuable contribution to supporting the mobilisation of capital towards sustainable outcomes over the course of the past year, and who have supported Jersey’s efforts to position itself as a leading centre for sustainable finance.
The Awards recognise excellence, ambition, innovation and leadership in sustainable finance right across the full spectrum of Jersey’s financial and professional services landscape.
Selected by a panel of independent judges including Dame Susan Rice, Chair of the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI), Andrew Mitchell, CEO of Equilibrium Futures, and Amy Blackwell, philanthropy and impact specialist, the winners were:
- Sustainable Finance Green Shoots Award: Vistra (Jersey) Limited
- Sustainable at Heart Award: Capital International (Jersey) Limited and RBS International
- Innovation and Technology in Sustainable Finance Award: 4G Capital
- Individual Influencer Award: Paul Douglas, Accuro Trust (Jersey) Limited
- Simon Boas Success Story Award: Affinity Private Wealth Limited
- Leader in the Mobilisation of Capital to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Capital International (Jersey) Limited
As well as recognising achievement through the Awards, the event this year was also designed to inspire ambition and collaboration through a number of expert presentations and discussions, including a keynote by ecological economist and author of the book ‘Doughnut Economics: seven ways to think like a 21st century economist’ Kate Raworth.
A presentation was also delivered by David Craig, Co-chair of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures, and there was an insightful panel discussion moderated by Dame Susan Rice that explored how Jersey is supporting innovation in the sustainable finance space. She was joined by panelists Amy King, Head of Sustainability and Impact and Director at Paragon Impact; David Postlethwaite, Director and Head of Sustainability Advisory at KPMG in the Crown Dependencies; and Simon Griffiths, CEO at SustainRisk Pro.
Commenting on the Awards, Amy Bryant, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Jersey Finance, said: “We were keen to evolve our Sustainable Finance Awards this year, to make it a special event that could both recognise those individuals and firms that are shaping Jersey’s proposition as a centre for sustainable finance, and also provide a platform for further collaboration and innovation so that we can continue to shift the dial as a jurisdiction. The stories behind the submissions for the Simon Boas Success Story Award highlighted at the event were particularly powerful, serving as a reminder of the responsibility we have to make a difference.
“I’d like to thank our judges, panelists and guest speakers this year, including Kate Raworth and David Craig, and congratulate all our winners, who thoroughly deserve their success and will undoubtedly continue to help champion the importance of sustainable finance and its place in the economic ecosystem.”
