Jersey showcased its innovation on Friday evening, with the Jersey TechAwards seeing a record number of entries, and a hotly contested winners podium.

The awards, which celebrate the very best of the Island’s digital talent, creativity and entrepreneurship, recognised individuals, students, companies and even lockdown technology.

Thirteen categories with 107 entries, were whittled down to a shortlist of 43 by the nine expert judges, with Digital Company of the Year going to TrustQuay, a business which highlights the best of Jersey’s capabilities, combining Trust and Fund administration with an integrated software system.

Start-up of the Year went to the Summit, a dedicated business analytics solution, and Digital Leader of the Year was won by Calligo’s Julian Box. Additionally, Digital Jersey introduced a new award called The Digital Jersey Excellence award, which this year was awarded to Prosperity 24-7 for their work on the Island’s track and trace technology.

TechAwards 2020-2021

Digital Jersey CEO, Tony Moretta, said: “I was bowled over by the calibre and variety of entries in what has been such a difficult year for everyone. It goes to prove that innovation and creativity are flourishing, and that is incredibly positive for our Island going forward.

“We saw established digital companies nominated and win as well as start-ups that didn’t exist before 2020, plus an increasing number of companies in all sectors from finance to health to agriculture show how they have used technology to improve their business.

“Meanwhile, the Technology Students of the year showcase our homegrown talent across the ages, proving that while our youngsters are going to make a positive impact on our future, career-changers are also learning and embracing the digital workplace”.
