Walkers’ Jersey team have advised Floww Markets, an fintech business backed by the London Stock Exchange Group, on its new private capital investment electronic platform launch.
Floww brings together private market participants – companies looking to raise, venture capital firms and eligible investors as well as financial intermediaries and innovation clusters – to connect and transact more efficiently based on data and analytics. The platform aims to make investment in private companies as streamlined as investing in listed companies.
A Walkers team led by Dilmun Leach (pictured), partner of Walkers (CI) LP, advised on the Jersey law aspects and regulatory permissions needed to set up a Jersey-managed trust company, a crucial operational aspect of Floww’s platform. Senior counsel Sarah Townsend and senior associate Luke Steele also advised.
Of the launch, Dilmun said: “It’s exciting working with Floww to set up the structure needed to support this innovative private investment platform. We’ve worked closely with lead onshore counsel Latham & Watkins and the administrator JTC on this project, which saw Jersey’s modern legal and regulatory regime used as part of the solution for getting the launch over the line.
“The JFSC was quick to respond to this application, which reflects Jersey’s growing reputation as a jurisdiction which is very much ‘open for business’ when it comes to innovative new structures in the fintech sector.”
Simon Finch, chief strategy officer at Floww, added: “We are pleased with our choice of Jersey for this solution, and were delighted with the speed to market which we achieved.”
