Variety, the Children’s Charity of Jersey held their Annual Golf Day on Friday 30th October at La Moye Golf Club. Despite being a much smaller event this year, due to Covid-19 restrictions, it was still a highly successful day and raised over £11,000 for the charity.
The number of teams taking part this year was reduced to ten teams of four to ensure social distancing rules could be adhered to. The teams took advantage of the dry weather to enjoy eighteen holes of golf followed by a delicious lunch in the clubhouse.
Hawk Lending Group Limited were the main sponsors again this year and many other local businesses provided support with raffle prizes and auction lots. The winning team for the second year in succession was Brewin Dolphin with Pentagon as runners up.
Next year’s event will be held on 8th October with hopefully up to twenty teams taking part.
Sandra Auckland, Chief Barker for Variety commented: “Like every charity in Jersey, our fund-raising events this year have been massively impacted by Covid-19. So, we were pleased to still be able to hold this event, even though our usual numbers were reduced to ensure the safety of everyone taking part. It was a wonderful day out for everyone involved and raised some much-needed funds to help support the children of Jersey.”
