JCKC Law, a boutique litigation firm established by Advocate James Corbett, has welcomed two new Counsel to its associated business, the Chambers of James Corbett KC.
Richard Humphreys KC (pictured) is specialist Planning and Environmental Counsel and Arran Dowling Hussey is Construction Counsel. They have joined the Chambers to broaden legal advice options available in Jersey to clients experiencing construction and / or planning disputes. Both have a strong interest in resolving disputes via arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
Richard Humphreys is an English Barrister and, since 2006, King’s Counsel. He has advised on Jersey planning law and related issues since the early 1990s, including the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002 and the Island Plan. He has also given several seminars in Jersey regarding affordable housing and heritage.
In England, he is a member of No5 Chambers (London and Birmingham) as well as being an associate member of 6 Pump Court, Temple, London. Richard is also a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland and an elected Master of the Bench of the Inner Temple, London.
Arran Dowling Hussey is an experienced barrister, adjudicator, arbitrator, and mediator. He was called as a barrister in London (2007), Belfast (2006) and Dublin (2003) and is registered in other international legal centres. Arran’s practice includes advising on commercial, chancery, construction, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and international matters. He practices from 4 – 5 Gray’s Inn Square in London and from the Law Library in Dublin. Arran is a keen author and editor of legal articles and core texts, including three editions of Arbitration Law. Arran is an Adjunct Professor at University College Cork’s School of Law.
He is a member of several London based legal/construction and/or ADR committees including the Council of the Society of Construction Law, Board of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the committee of the Adjudication Society.
Both Richard and Arran will continue to practise primarily in England and Ireland.
