The International Stock Exchange (TISE) has announced that Robert Trefny will be the new Chair of its regulatory arm, The International Stock Exchange Authority Limited (TISEA).
Robert has more than 35 years’ experience as a lawyer and, latterly, as a Capital Markets Partner in the London office of Clifford Chance. He will be appointed to the Board of TISEA from 1 January 2021, succeeding Charlie Geffen who, as previously announced, will become the Chair of parent company The International Stock Exchange Group Limited (TISEG) from the same date.
Charlie said: “I am delighted to be able to announce Rob as the new Chair of TISEA. Since taking the role myself, I have found it hugely rewarding and as an esteemed and experienced capital markets lawyer, Rob is ideally positioned to pick up the baton. I am really looking forward to Rob bringing his considerable expertise to the Board of TISEA.”
Originally from just outside New York, Robert spent 11 years at Davis Polk & Wardell in New York before moving to Clifford Chance where he became a Capital Markets Partner. Based at Clifford Chance in Hong Kong for five years, he then relocated to London in 1999 where he continued to practice until leaving the firm in 2018.
Robert said: “I am extremely pleased to be succeeding Charlie as Chair of TISEA. He has made a significant impact in working with the executive team to ensure that we are offering a first-class regulatory environment for listing and trading on the Exchange. I am hugely excited to start working with my fellow Board members, our executive team and all our other stakeholders”.
