The School of Popular Music is opening its recording studio in Jersey, with support from Sure.
The recording studio, sponsored by Sure, will provide an invaluable resource for students and tutors. It will allow them to immerse themselves fully in the music-making process, from learning and composing original songs to recording and producing professional-quality music videos. This hands-on experience is crucial for developing technical skills and artistic creativity.
The School of Popular Music (SOPM), founded in Guernsey in 2013, is an award-winning music institution renowned for its unique and comprehensive approach to music education. Since late 2021, SOPM has expanded its reach in Jersey by integrating the esteemed Chordz Music School and their talented tutors into its team.
Paul Acton, Chief Executive of Sure Jersey, said: “Technology has the ability to connect people, which is why we are committed to supporting local talent and enriching our community. By sponsoring SOPM’s recording studio, we are investing in the future of music education in Jersey.
“With supporting SOPM, we hope to provide students and tutors with the digital resources and music technology they need to reach their full potential and their musical dreams. We can’t wait to hear the incredible music that will be created and recorded in this state-of-the-art facility.”
Harrison Collins, General Manager at School of Popular Music, said: “We at SOPM Jersey are extremely excited to build out our studio here. This simply wouldn’t have been possible without the monetary sponsorship from Sure. The recording studio is something that we have wanted to integrate at the school for a good while and now with Sure’s help, we are able to facilitate producing industry standard music, both for ourselves and most importantly for our students.
“As a school we are passionate about our students writing and creating original music and now with this studio, we are able to inspire them with a facility that any musician would be proud of recording in. The money provided by Sure has meant that we can buy a range of outboard analog units alongside a full digital suite that will allow us to teach a range of more traditional music production techniques, whilst integrating all of the benefits of modern digital music technology.
“We are so excited to show the talents of our students and tutors going forward and could not be more grateful to Sure for giving us the platform to do so!”
