In 2024, the Sure Community Foundation donated over £25,000 to support more than 40 Guernsey charities delivering vital services to thousands of islanders.
Sure colleagues nominated three main charities for focused support: the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation, Headway Guernsey, and Safer. Each received over £2,500.
Headway used their support to help continue to provide care, and a place to talk for brain injury survivors and their families. Safer were able to purchase much needed tools and equipment for their refuge, to support individuals affected by domestic abuse. The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation used the donation to support families of premature babies and provided six Mi-Fi devices to ensure vital connectivity.
Jo Priaulx, co-founder of the PPBF, said: “We’re so grateful for the support from the Sure Foundation, including portable Mi-Fi devices that help families stay connected while in the UK. For parents, being able to FaceTime home or work remotely is a lifeline – especially during hospital stays. While our flats have Wi-Fi, much of their time is spent on the wards, so this kind of practical help makes a real difference.”
Other recipients included Relate Guernsey, Guernsey Cheshire Home, The Rock Community Church, the Guernsey Amalgamated Boxing Club, and the GSPCA, each playing a unique role in strengthening the community.
Lucienne De La Mare, Chair of the Sure Community Foundation, highlighted the positive impact on the community and celebrated the generosity of islanders: “Charity is at the heart of our island. We’re proud to help connect individuals and their families with the support they need, and we’re grateful to our valued Sure Community Foundation members and colleagues for their donations, generosity, and hard work.”
