Swoffers has continued its support for At Home in Guernsey, the local charity dedicated to addressing homelessness on the island, through a donation of £10,500 alongside the sharing of professional property expertise.

The contribution will directly support At Home’s frontline services and the development of its Supported Lodgings programme, which provides safe, stable accommodation for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Current estimates suggest that more than 1,000 people on the island – around one in 60 residents – experience some form of homelessness, driven largely by high rents and limited access to social housing.

Charlie Cox, Director of At Home in Guernsey, said: “There’s a real stereotype that homelessness happens to people who’ve made poor choices. The reality is that it can happen to anyone. Relationships break down, jobs are lost, or rents become unaffordable. These are people in our community, and no one should have to face not having a safe place to call home.”

One of At Home’s key initiatives is its Supported Lodgings programme, which matches homeowners with spare rooms to individuals in need of accommodation. Placements are professionally managed, with safeguarding and ongoing support for both resident landlords and lodgers.

“At Swoffers, we believe in the importance of a strong, inclusive community where everyone has a place to call home,” said Andre Austin, Director at Swoffers. “Our team is passionate about property, and we are pleased to also be able to share our professional expertise to support At Home in Guernsey.”

Charlie Cox added: “Having a respected local brand like Swoffers support our work has been amazing. Their backing, both financially and practically, makes a real difference to the people we support.”
