As Technology Partner, Sure will power the connectivity at Guernsey’s newest and largest football hub Victoria Park, the new headquarters for Guernsey FA.
Sure’s 1GB fibre broadband will be integral to powering state-of-the-art LED advertising boards around the pitch, and a screen in the Guernsey FC changing rooms that will be used to show live replays during half-time for training purposes.
Players and spectators will also be able to seamlessly share live game updates, upload pictures to social media and video call friends using lightning-fast internet speeds. Sure has also provided top-of-the-line Meraki routers to ensure fast and reliable wireless connectivity throughout the venue, giving all players and spectators access to complementary WiFi.
The stadium will officially open on Saturday 29 March, when Guernsey FC’s men’s team will play Woking’s Westfield FC for the first-ever match to be played at Victoria Park. Women’s football will be at the heart of celebrations the following day when the stadium will host a Girls’ Community Football Festival to encourage young women and girls to get involved in the sport.
Sure’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer Mike Fawkner-Corbett said: “We know how integral sport is to our community, so we are honoured to be a part of the delivery of Guernsey’s landmark new sporting venue.
“By providing the technology for Victoria Park, we hope to have a positive impact on islanders’ experience of football at the stadium and help spectators and players alike feel more connected through sport.”
Guernsey Football Association CEO Gary Roberts said: “The opening of Victoria Park has been long anticipated by the football community in Guernsey. Sure’s support as Technology Partner means that all who attend the stadium can share their experiences in real-time. We are grateful for their valuable contribution to island football.”
