The Sure Guernsey Customer Service Awards winners were announced at a presentation ceremony last night to a packed audience at the Duke of Richmond Hotel, St Peter Port.
Individual and team winners represented the full spectrum of the Guernsey business community – all sharing a commitment to delivering excellent customer care. There were representatives there from Guernsey, Herm, Sark and Alderney to complete the Bailiwick.
The overall winner for 2018 was the team from Surf & Turf. As a new business of only two years old, they were delighted to have been chosen as the overall winner. All 15 of the Surf & Turf team were there to celebrate, demonstrating just how important the team is to owners Jason and Nikki Hamon.
Director of Guernsey Chamber of Commerce Kay Leslie presented an award and said: “Chamber is delighted to support this important initiative. It fits perfectly with our commitment to encourage the highest levels of service across all sectors. These are exciting times for Chamber as we launch our new Business Development Centre in the Markets building from Monday 1 October and we hope to work alongside Jill and all of the retail and hospitality sectors as part of our focus on supporting business in general.”
Coordinator of the event Jill Clark said: “The new timescale of summer nominations has worked really well this year, with businesses receiving huge amounts of valuable feedback from their customers – hundreds of them from visitors to the islands. The feedback not only lets them know they are doing a great job, but also how things can be improved – so that service just gets better and better. That’s got to be good for everyone on the islands – tourists and locals alike.
“It is clear from the number of entries for this year’s awards that both customers and businesses take customer service very seriously and understand that a great customer experience is essential for business success. It has been a wonderful evening for the winners, but all the finalists should be thrilled to have got this far. They all have certificates in recognition of their amazing achievements, and we are also presenting another 50 ‘Highly Commended’ certificates to others on the islands who are doing such a great job.”
Sure Chief Customer Officer Charlotte Dunsterville commented: “Sure is proud to sponsor the Customer Service Awards and be a part of celebrating those individuals, teams and businesses who work so hard to provide an excellent customer experience in the Bailiwick.
“At Sure, customer experience is at the heart of everything we do; we want to help our customers, no matter how they choose to interact with us, and we use feedback to develop our products and services and further improve our customer interactions. We recognise the importance of good customer experience and that’s why we’ve been the headline sponsor of the awards in the Channel Islands for a number of years now.
“I continue to be overwhelmed by the support the awards get every year– it demonstrates the community spirit in the island and the value people place in good customer service. Congratulations to the worthy winners and all the finalists; you should all be very proud of your achievement.”
