Guernsey will play host to this year’s World Bowls Indoor Championship in April and Sure is providing free broadband in the Guernsey Indoor Bowling Association grounds at Hougue du Pommier to keep competitors and spectators connected.
Guernsey Indoor Bowling Association (GIBA) have been benefitting from free connectivity since last year when speeds were upgraded and 12 months of free connectivity was gifted as part of Sure’s commitment to set up fibre broadband to all 26 NatWest International 2023 Island Games sites ahead of the competition.
The free broadband was due to end in March, but Sure is extending this for GIBA to ensure they have seamless connectivity while they host indoor bowling players from 30 countries around the world for the World Bowls Indoor Championships, which includes live streaming of the week long event so all 30 countries can stay connected to the action
The 2024 event will attract over 100,000 viewers from around the world via the World Bowls social media platform with live-streaming, video interviews of international bowlers, and much more to be featured throughout the week of competition.
Mike Fawkner-Corbett, Head of Consumer at Sure, said: “We’re proud to be able to extend the free broadband offer to GIBA for the World Bowls Indoor Championship because it’s all about bringing together players from diverse backgrounds, uniting them through the thrill of sport, and putting the Guernsey community in the spotlight for the world to see.”
Ian Merrien, Treasurer at GIBA, said: “GIBA appreciate Sure’s offer to extend the free broadband for the Championships. We are live streaming the event and this will also enable competitors around the world to stay in touch and generally provide those in the stadium with a better user experience.”
