Sure, in partnership with sister company Beyon Connect, has been selected out of 80 global entrants to take part in the Isle of Man’s flagship FinTech Innovation Challenge.
16 companies from across the globe will be working closely with the Isle of Man Government, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders to develop and refine innovative problem-solving technology over the next three months. The solutions will help boost the island’s digital economy and position the Isle of Man as a leading FinTech hub.
Sure, with its well-established local business and community involvement, has entered alongside its sister company Beyon Connect, which is based in Bahrain and specialises in building secure and trustworthy IT platforms.
Beyon Connect’s specialist expertise and product suite of OneBox, OneID and OneSign, will be augmented by Sure’s local team of experts, who are embedded in the Isle of Man’s digital landscape and have worked with government, businesses, and individual customers for over 15 years.
Ben King, Chief Operating Officer of Beyon, said: “Our mission is to create a better and more inclusive digital society. We want to connect businesses and people through a secure, stable, trustworthy and user-friendly platform of unique products that unite the public and private sector in providing easy to access communication and services. The Fintech Innovation Challenge offers us the opportunity to think creatively about some of the uniqueness of the Isle of Man and by teaming up with Sure, this gives us a key insight into the local community, so we can adapt our offerings accordingly.”
The Innovation Challenge is part of the Isle of Man’s ambitions to build a secure, vibrant and sustainable future, with the challenge representing the next step in the island’s intention to become a tech hub for businesses looking to bring their ideas to market.
Sure’s Chief Executive in the Isle of Man Mike Phillips (pictured) said of the challenge: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with our local business community and understand their needs and challenges in this exciting new field. Participation also enables Sure to combine our local ICT and telecommunication expertise with subject matter and solutions experts from our wider group and the team at Beyon Connect – we are excited to step up to the challenge together.
“We are looking forward to demonstrating our range of knowledge as a frontrunner in the technology sector, leverage our international group expertise, and to use this opportunity to develop relationships and collaborate with our local community, the Isle of Man Government, regulators and businesses to create a leading digital hub.”
The participants will face three challenges asking them to solve some of the most vital issues facing the financial sector. The challenge will culminate on June 29 during a Demo Day where each business will showcase their solution to an audience of judges, industry experts and potential customers.
