Following the success of their 2024 campaign, SunWorks has announced the launch of its £10,000 Solar Giveaway.
The giveaway is a community-driven campaign offering a full solar panel installation to one deserving charity or community organisation on the island.
This initiative is designed to support the adoption of renewable energy, reduce operating costs for non-profits, and highlight the island’s growing commitment to sustainability. Eligible applicants will have the chance to receive a solar installation valued at up to £10,000, empowering them to lower their carbon footprint and save up to 70% on their electricity bills.
“This campaign is about more than installing solar panels—it’s about investing in people, purpose, and the planet,” said Mark Brandon, Co-Owner and Managing Director at SunWorks. “We’re excited to give back to the community in a meaningful way and encourage everyone to get involved, whether by applying, voting, or simply spreading the word.”
A shortlisting panel will select finalists based on eligibility, impact, and alignment with the campaign’s sustainability goals. The Jersey community will then take the lead in choosing the winner through an online public vote, running from 14th July to 22nd August.
The winner will be revealed via the SunWorks social media channels on 25th August and will receive their installation in early September 2025.
Last year’s recipient, Kaspar Wimberley at SCOOP, the Sustainable Cooperative, said “With a constant energy supply required to power our cold storage of fresh organic produce, solar power made sense and has helped lower our electricity bills. We are extremely thankful for the generosity of SunWorks and wish all those applying for support in 2025 the best of luck”
SunWorks hopes to build on that success with even greater impact this year. “As someone who visits these community spaces firsthand, I see the incredible work being done every day—often on tight budgets,” said Ben Spencer-Newman, Surveyor at SunWorks. “This initiative isn’t just about clean energy; it’s about helping these groups thrive. By reducing their energy bills, we’re giving them the freedom to focus more on their missions and less on overheads. It’s a small step with a big impact for the whole island.”
Local organisations who meet the eligibility criteria can apply via the SunWorks website by completing a simple online form and submitting photographs and details about their property and community impact. The deadline for applications is Monday 30th June 2025.
