The Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon returned to St Helier this weekend, bringing together runners, volunteers, and supporters for one of the island’s most anticipated community events.
More than 2,100 people took part across the Marathon, Relay Race and Marathon Mile, with participants of all ages and abilities joining from Jersey and further afield. Liverpool FC Legend David James was also in attendance, cheering on runners and adding to the race-day atmosphere.
The winners were as follows:
- Simon Kimtai was the first male to cross the marathon finishing line, achieving a time of 2 hrs 19 mins 56 secs
- Gladys Kiptoo, the first female, also set a new course record with a time of 2 hrs 35 mins 57 secs
- Team Endurance Coaching Crew was the fastest in the five-person Relay (2 hrs 38 mins 19 secs)
- Team Over the Hill was the fastest two-person Relay (2 hrs 37 mins 28 secs)
- Leo Gage was the fastest to complete the Marathon Mile in just 5 mins 13 secs
Starting and finishing at Weighbridge Place in St Helier, the event once again demonstrated the power of sport in uniting people, supporting health and wellbeing, and raising funds for causes that matter to the community.
This year, runners also supported the race-day donation schemes designed to extend the event’s positive impact beyond the finish line. Since 2024, participants have been able to donate pre-loved trainers through the event’s Trainer Drop-off scheme, with all footwear distributed to local charities The Shelter Trust and Acorn for resale. Participants can also donate unwanted jumpers and jackets in dedicated drop-off areas, helping turn race-day essentials into vital fundraising opportunities.
Henry Baye, CEO of Standard Chartered Jersey, said: “What makes the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon so special is the people behind it. From every runner who took on a challenge, to the volunteers, organisers and supporters who brought such energy to St Helier, today was a brilliant celebration of community spirit.
“We are incredibly proud to support an event that brings the island together and creates a positive impact for local charities and young people. Congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you to all those who helped make the day such a success.”
