Since adopting Autism Jersey as their charity of choice in 2020 Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa has raised more than £2,600 through guest donations and a variety of in-house events.
Guests were invited to add £1 to hotel bills with all monies raised going directly to the charity and the in house team facilitated a range of fun and family- friendly fund-raising initiatives.
The team at the AA Five Star St Helier hotel were keen to make the most of the hotel’s fabulous assets and really make it a treat to visit for all, offering those on the spectrum a relaxing, safe and inclusive stay. They also hosted a variety of events including a ‘best burger challenge’ and laughing yoga – a series of movement and breathing exercises to get everyone laughing and encourage them to let go of daily life stressors.
Throughout the year the hotel also hosted Autism Jersey’s monthly coffee mornings, providing tea, coffee and pastries. The charity also benefitted from complimentary use of the Grand Suite for training and as the venue for their AGM and a big fund-raising fashion show.
Commenting on the partnership, Tim O’Sullivan, General Manager said: “We’ve been delighted to partner with and raise money for Autism Jersey, a charity which works tirelessly to help enhance the quality of life for islanders on the autistic spectrum, helping them to lead a full and inclusive life and enjoy a degree of independence.”
Lesley Harrison, Head of Charitable Services at Autism Jersey said: “This amazing partnership demonstrates just how important community engagement is and the role partnerships have to play in delivering positive outcomes. Autism Jersey and our clients are extremely grateful for the kindness, generosity and support from the staff, guests and management of the Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa, to enable us to deliver wonderful family events and also fundraising activities.”
