Source Recruitment launches Community Service to drive local charity recruitment

Source Recruitment Specialists has recently launched a new community initiative, focusing on helping Guernsey’s charitable sector.

Source has spent the past few months working alongside the Guernsey Community Foundation to develop close partnerships with local charities and has developed a brand new volunteer/charity platform to assist with third sector recruitment.

James Le Flocq, Senior Recruiter at Source Recruitment, said: “We believe in helping people feel fulfilled, not only in their workplace but also in their daily lives. We’ve experienced a rise in candidates coming to us feeling burnt out and unsatisfied yet unable to reduce their pay to sustain a healthier quality of life. Volunteering can offer the perfect solution for finding that work-life balance, offering professional and personal fulfilment while helping the local community.

“Similarly, we are approached by candidates who have gaps in their CVs that could be filled with the right voluntary placement. We also know that businesses are increasingly interested in what people do in their spare time. Beyond their skills, experience and qualifications, volunteering is a great way to enhance their professional appeal.

“We hope that this new scheme will also encourage some of our registered jobseekers actively seeking employment to consider volunteering.” James concluded. Source not only offers a service for voluntary positions but also promotes charity vacancies for paid staff.

At the time of writing, Source is partnered with over 30 local charities, and that number continues to rise. Their charity partners are now visible on a new ‘Volunteer’ page on their website. Source also has a ‘Charity Vacancies’ page which lists available roles, in addition to links and further resources for both charities and volunteers. Source understands that recruitment/HR can be a complicated process and are on hand to provide advice to charities as and when it’s required. Through the scheme, charities looking to recruit voluntary or paid roles can get in touch with Source to have their vacancy and charity linked on the platform.

This information is then used to notify both existing and new candidates who may be interested in volunteering opportunities.

Joni Nettleship, office manager and third sector liaison at the Foundation, said: “Volunteering can be extremely fulfilling… We are thrilled that Source has offered its skills and time to help the third sector reach as many people as possible. Board roles have been particularly hard to fill this year so this project will hopefully enable local charities to find the right candidates.”
