Resurfacing work starts today (Sunday) on a stretch of road in Jersey as a major six month project to improve the carriageway in St Peter’s Valley begins.

Phase one is on La Route de St Aubin from the junction with Mont Felard, continuing west towards Bel Royal.

The Department for Infrastructure project runs until June 2018, with a break in April.

The department says working times have been set to take account of the heavy use of the road with closures limited to Sundays and weekday evenings, while other work will be undertaken off-peak with temporary traffic lights in place.

The work starts at junction of St Aubin’s Inner Road, Mont Felard and Rue de Galet and although these junctions will be closed, access to premises along Rue de Galet and Mont Felard will be maintained, some via local diversion routes.

The Inner Road itself will remain open to east and westbound traffic on Sunday with traffic lights in place.

Work will progress into the next section from Rue de Haut to Roberts Garage under traffic lights during weekdays, with possible closures in the evenings and on future Sundays.

You can get up to date information on the St Peter’s Valley resurfacing project here.
