HSBC has appointed Christine Yew and Christina Liciaga to the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Head of Customer and Products

The roles in the Wealth and Personal Banking business have responsibility for both the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, and Europe.

The appointments mark a significant growth period for HSBC in the islands, particularly in respect of the Jersey office becoming the Bank’s new global wealth hub.

As Chief Operating Officer for Wealth and Personal Banking, Christine will be focussing on HSBC employees as well as operational risk and strategic digital transformation for the Bank.

Christine has spent seven years with HSBC and has broad experience gained in various global, regional and country roles, including Head of Cost Management UK & Europe, Europe Regional Lead for International Markets and Head of Business Management for EMEA. Prior to this she worked at Barclays and Citi in Europe and the US. Her experience spans transformation, product, strategy and planning. She is a role model for diversity and inclusion and talent development and in 2018 launched a talent programme for HSBC in Europe.

Christina’s role as Head of Customer and Products will define the wealth and personal banking product and customer engagement strategy. Since joining the Bank in 2009, she has held several roles at global, regional and country level in Latin America, Asia and the UK including as Head of Protect Customer Journeys UK, Head of Customer Service UK, Head of High Net Worth Distribution, and Global Head of Jade and Wealth Propositions.

Prior to joining HSBC, Christina built and sold two digital businesses and was a strategic consultant leading change from a people first perspective in frontier markets. Externally she has been recognised as a Top Customer Experience Professional and a Top 10 EMpower Ethnic Minority Leader.

Commenting on these new appointments, John Goddard, Head of Wealth and Personal Banking for HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man said:  “Appointing Christina and Christine to these senior roles is an important stage in developing a global wealth hub for HSBC in Jersey.

“Both have extensive customer and operational management experience and will strengthen the Wealth and Personal Banking team in the islands. Global expats and island customers are benefiting from the industry-leading products, cutting-edge insights and excellent service we are offering from the HSBC wealth hub in Jersey, and Christine and Christina are an essential part of evolving this world-class service.”
