On 1 September 2018 disability becomes a protected characteristic in Jersey. The law will define a disability as
“One (or more) long term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments or disfigurement”
The JRA is holding a seminar to aid businesses to fully understand the implications of this new law. It takes place on Tuesday 26 June, at the Pomme D’Or Hotel.
During the seminar delegates will hear about the large spectrum of disabilities that employees, colleagues and customers could potentially have, how to interact with them in an inclusive and thoughtful way and what needs to be considered from a human resources perspective.
The event, sponsored by Vantage HBA, will give a clearer understanding of how the Disability Discrimination Regulations could affect businesses on the island.
