Santander International is to sponsor the Schools Zone at Jersey Bulls, helping bring top level football to more children in Jersey.
The Santander International Schools Zone is an area of Springfield Stadium which is dedicated to welcoming school children. Up to 50 tickets are available in the Schools Zone for each game, with schools across the Island invited to apply.
Children attending the games must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, making it a great way for parents to introduce their children to Combined Counties League football.
This is the first season for Jersey Bulls – English football’s newest and most southerly club.
James Pountney, CEO, Santander International, said: “We are delighted to be able to assist Jersey Bulls in this way and help open up top level football to the wider community. The Schools Zone enables up to 25 children and their parents or guardians to attend each game for free during term time, giving them the opportunity to see their local team play against teams from all over England, and hopefully inspiring them with their own sporting endeavours.”
Alan Williams, Schools Liaison Officer, Jersey Bulls Football Club, visits schools around the Island explaining the concept and helps select a different school for each game.
He said: “This is an exciting time for Jersey Bulls and the Schools Zone has an important role to play in helping make the sport accessible to more young people in the Island. It would be amazing to think that children who are seeing football games like this for the first time may be inspired to become the champion players of the future.”
Jersey Bulls was launched at the start of the 2019/2020 season, giving local talent the chance to play against teams from outside the Island, raising the profile of Jersey beyond the Channel Islands, and the profile of the sport within the local community.
As part of the English Football League, Jersey Bulls will be eligible to complete in fixtures such as the FA Cup, the FA Trophy, and the FA Vase.
Russell Le Feuvre, Director and Chairman, Jersey Bulls, said: “The club’s vision is to create a sustainable and successful football club that offers real and lasting benefits to its members and the local Jersey community. Sponsorship such as this is a vital part of our financial plan and we would like to thank Santander International and all the other businesses who are supporting us during our debut season.”
