SandpiperCI, the Channel Islands’ retailer has announced it has agreed terms to acquire Richards Newsagents and Post Office in Alderney.
The retail site currently trades from Victoria Street which is in the heart of Alderney’s main shopping High Street.
The popular store provides Alderney’s community with confectionery, newspapers and magazines, cigarettes and tobacco, toys, souvenirs, gifts, greeting cards, and other newsagent associated products.
Mike Rutter, Sandpiper’s Retail Managing Director said: “We are delighted to expand our retail estate in Alderney. In September 2020 we re-established our presence back into the island when we purchased Le Cocq’s Stores. We said at the time we would be looking for other opportunities for further investment in Alderney and Richards Newsagents is the perfect fit to sit alongside Le Cocq’s.
“Initially we are planning to continue running the store along the same lines, with the same hours of opening, the same staff (no redundancies) and the same product offering. However, once things begin to settle down with Covid, we will be looking to enhance the store and its product offering to provide an even better range and customer service to Alderney’s community.”
