A charity challenge inspired by the hit TV show Race Across the World is back this year, and this time it is going to Prague.
The Jersey Employment Trust (JET) Jaunt, sponsored by CSC, sees teams of two race from A to B, using only public transport, by land or sea.
The first Jaunt went from St Malo to Monaco last September, with the 17 teams raising £24,000 for the Jersey Employment Trust, which supports Islanders who have a disability or long-term health condition in the workplace. This year, participants will go from St Malo to Prague over one weekend in September.
JET fundraising manager Caroline Spencer said: “The feedback from last year was fantastic and we want to build on that. The Jaunt is a great way to challenge yourself, think on the hoof, and see how you and your team-mate cope with the added pressure of a race. For most of us these days, we travel with quite a fixed itinerary. This throws that out of the window. You can’t pre-book buses or trains because you don’t know what we might ask you to do along the way.

“The Jaunt is sure to appeal to fans of Race Across the World. The fifth series, featuring China, Nepal and India, is currently on our TV screens.
“We are grateful to sponsors CSC, as well as the continued support of Ports of Jersey and All Island Media. We are again working with travel experts Lupine Travel, who put together the detail of the checkpoints and challenges.”
Last year saw Jaunters having to take a selfie in a certain street in St Malo, find Arago medallions around the Louvre in Paris, and photograph the Owl of Dijon, and get a team photo at the statue of Argentine Formula One driver Juan Manuel Fangio. And the pack split as they were given a choice of two routes, one of which took them out of France, to Turin.
Nicola Giraud, CSC Channel Islands Managing Director said: “At CSC, we believe in building better tomorrows – for our people, our clients, and the communities we’re privileged to serve. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor the JET Jaunt for the second year in a row. This event reflects what we value most – service, teamwork, and the tenacity to go the distance for a worthy cause.
“The 2025 JET Jaunt is more than a journey – it’s a symbol of the community strength and spirit that moves us forward. We’re excited to cheer on this year’s Jaunters and can’t wait to see how far they go.”
