Guernsey and Sark’s own Bright Electrical Race for Life is back on Sunday 19 May thanks to support from Cancer Research UK – Guernsey Branch.
Dani Barnett from the organising team said: “Last year the event had 740 attendees and raised over £30,000. Our hope was to double the amount from 2022, which was £10,000, and we absolutely smashed that target. This year we can only hope to raise the same amount again.
“It’s more than a race; it’s a collective community fight against cancer because, without funds for research, we wouldn’t have the treatment and preventative measures we have today. Those who took part, donated and volunteered in Sark and Guernsey last year have made an incredible impact on the charity.”
This is the third year that Bright Electrical have sponsored Our Race for Life and the second year that Sark will participate. This year, Rock & Small have donated their time to create new 2024 t-shirts that will be included free in the early bird special tickets, available up till 30 April. After that they will be available for purchase at £13 each for adults and £10 for youth.
The race will start at 11am on Sunday 19 May 2024 in Guernsey and in Sark. In Guernsey, there will be face stencilling by Rachel Day and warm-up activities with
Rianna from Barre Fusion before the race starts.
The course, starting and finishing at the KGV, will be the same as last year, with a 3km or 5km route around Saumarez Park – that can be walked, jogged or run.
Dani added: “We look forward to seeing everyone come together as a community, sharing stories, supporting one another in field of pink and fun fancy dress costumes. Together, we stride towards progress, hope, and a world free from this horrible disease.”
