Queens Road Medical Practice has received its third accreditation by CHKS, a provider of healthcare intelligence and quality improvement services, for meeting internationally recognised best practice, legislation and regulatory requirements.

Guernsey’s Queens Road received six commendations following the external assessment which recognised the practice’s staff wellbeing initiatives, commitment to preventative health care, focus on risk management and development of a culture of openness.

The team of healthcare peer review surveyors at CHKS also recognised Queens Road’s commitment to improved patient care through the establishment of its charitable trust which assists in providing free services to patients including genetic screening for hypercholesterolaemia, health checks at 65 and a nurse-led contraceptive service.

Will Pierce, Chief Executive Officer of Queens Road Medical Practice, explained to Channel Eye: “We are really pleased that we have now achieved nine years as a CHKS accredited Practice. We are assessed every three years through an exhaustive process which so many of our team contribute to, but particular mention should go to Dr Charis Cassells who leads on this area for us.

“We were all thrilled to receive six commendations from the assessment panel, which demonstrates that the new initiatives we have developed – ranging from the creation of a charitable trust to the delivery of a genetic screening service – are really helping to improve the services we provide to our patients.”

Accreditation by CHKS provides a standards-based framework for quality assurance and quality improvement. Taking part in the process of accreditation gives an organisation the resilience and vigilance required to deliver consistently high-quality healthcare services.

Moyra Amess, Director, Assurance & Accreditation at CHKS said: “The accreditation process requires dedication and commitment. Every organisation we make this award to has proved to our external assessors that its standards and process meet international best practice standards. This is a significant achievement.”
