Just six months after joining Babbé, Nick Howell has been promoted to Managing Associate in recognition of the positive contribution he has made to the firm’s Disputes & Risk team.
With over a decade of legal experience, having previously headed up a civil and commercial litigation team at an English regional law, Nick (pictured) became quickly involved in the large, cross-jurisdictional matter where the Royal Court called for reforms to Guernsey’s financial services regulation, which has recently concluded.
Nick said: “It has been a really enjoyable first six months at Babbe. A particular highlight was being part of the dynamic team that successfully obtained a declaration that our clients’ funds were not the source of proceeds of crime and therefore $90 million of frozen funds could be transferred to our clients (L v Credit Suisse).
“I have enjoyed the diversity and complexity to the work the Disputes & Risk team offers, together with the strong support within the team and its esprit de corps.”
Advocate Todd McGuffin, Partner and Head of Disputes & Risk said: “Nick has been an important part of the continued growth of the Disputes & Risk team at Babbé. The team has recently expanded to 10 fee earners focused on contentious trust, insolvency and funds matters, fraud and asset recovery and financial services regulation and investigations.”
