Today is World Prematurity Day – a global reminder that 1 in 10 babies are born too soon – and the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation’s 22nd birthday.
The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF) is encouraging islanders to wear purple while raising funds for their UK compassionate housing and on-island initiatives to help Guernsey’s neonatal team.
During the lead up to this activity-packed day, PPBF co-founder Jo Priaulx officially received her MBE at Windsor Castle, in recognition of her services to neonatal care in Guernsey.

Mrs Priaulx said: “It’s been the busiest and most exciting November we have ever had. Receiving my MBE was just surreal. There are not many couples with a husband and wife who each have an MBE, which makes it even more special.
“The King was so kind to us, praising everything that the team have been doing. Since then, we have received so many messages of love and support, especially on the PPBF’s Facebook page and I want to take this opportunity to really thank everyone for celebrating with us. We read every single one of your comments and messages, and it motivates us to keep doing what we do.”
