Popular Guernsey restaurant closes down

The Auberge at Jerbourg, a popular restaurant and wedding reception venue, has closed.

The property is owned by local  businessman, Andrew Haining.

Mr Haining purchased the business in September last year from The Liberation Group, who had owned it since 2013.

General manager Daniel Mihalache had hoped a business plan he had prepared would be sufficient to keep the premises open,, but had not been able to present it before the announcement was made of the closure.

Mr Mihalache said he was hoping Mr Haining would allow him to make use of the site before any new occupants moved in and intended to contact him to discuss his idea.

The decision to close The Auberge with immediate effect was not a shock to the staff members, they said.
