Residents and service users from Les Amis will benefit from a new outdoor space thanks to a £45,000 grant from the Freemasons’ Charity Community Fund.
The funding will support Project Trinity, an ambitious initiative that will create a welcoming outdoor space where people can improve their wellbeing, maintain their independence and connect with others.
This landscaping effort is part of Les Amis’ new nursing unit, Maison des Amis, which will provide essential support for islanders with learning disabilities when their needs become more complex. This includes specialised care such as nursing, dementia and end-of-life care. The project has already attracted support from several funders and stakeholders across the island.
Project Trinity will provide a welcoming environment where service users can enjoy outdoor activities, social interaction and therapeutic opportunities in a safe and accessible setting, part of Les Amis’ ongoing commitment to improving quality of life for people with learning disabilities throughout Jersey.
As part of the project, 20 Jersey Freemasons volunteered their time to help shape the site through hard landscaping works, planting shrubbery and painting perimeter walls and containers. The project builds on the longstanding relationship between Jersey Freemasons and Les Amis.
Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Jersey Freemasons for their generous support of Project Trinity. This funding will help us create an outdoor space that will provide accessibility and opportunities for the people we support while they receive essential, specialised care. The involvement of local Freemasons as volunteers demonstrates the power of community partnership and will help create a lasting legacy for Jersey.”
The grant comes through the Freemasons’ Charity Community Fund, which supports partnerships between Freemasons and local charities by combining financial support with volunteering and community engagement opportunities.
Tim Dallas-Chapman, Head of Jersey Freemasons said: “We’re delighted to support Project Trinity and continue our longstanding relationship with Les Amis. This project combines funding with hands-on volunteering and will deliver lasting benefits for people across the island. We’re proud that local Freemasons can play an active role in bringing this important project to life.”
