Patrick Burke, Owner and Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel and Ocean Restaurant, has been shortlisted for the award of Independent Hotelier 2022 at the Independent Hotel Show Awards.

The annual awards ceremony, now in its 10th year, will take place at the Olympia National in London on the 4th of October. The awards are designed to shine a light on industry professionals who are passionate about innovation, guest experience and driving meaningful change in the sector and to champion all that makes independent hotels such amazing places to stay.

This year the organisers received over 50 entries from talented independent hoteliers with a panel of industry judges picking just six for the shortlist. Alongside Patrick in the shortlist are Charlie Luxton and Dan Brod, Co-Owners of The Beckford Group, Harry Cragoe, Owner of The Gallivant, Helen Heraty, Proprietor of Grays Court Hotel, Janine Marshall, General Manager of One Aldwych and Stuart Procter, Chief Operating Officer of The Stafford Collection.

The Independent Hotelier award is decided through a combination of public industry vote and marking from the esteemed panel of judges with the overall winner being crowned at the glittering ceremony in October.

Commenting on the shortlisting, Patrick Burke said: “I’m extremely proud of our status as a family-run small luxury hotel that has been operating for over 50 years and I consider it a great honour to be shortlisted for this prestigious award. I’ve been passionate about flying the flag for independent hotels and for the island of Jersey since I  took over the running of The Atlantic from my father, Henry in 1987.”

“Whilst I acknowledge the excellent standards of many hotel chains around the world, I firmly believe that an independent hotel can often boast character, personality and uniqueness on top of excellence. The fact is, The Atlantic is a unique hotel in a unique location on a unique island and it’s wonderful to be recognised in this way.”

Voting for the awards is now open and closes on Monday 3rd October with details to be found on the Independent Hotel Show website.
