Partnership brings Guernsey ‘green’ coffee

As part of its efforts to reduce plastic pollution in Guernsey, Butterfield has established a new reusable coffee mug partnership with local coffee shop, Muse.

As part of Butterfield’s continuing bid to limit its impact on the environment, all staff members have been given a branded reusable coffee mug to be used when taken to Muse, where they will receive a 15% discount on their orders.

Richard Saunders, managing director at Butterfield Bank (Guernsey) Limited, said:

“We’re delighted Muse has formed this partnership with us. At Butterfield, we are very passionate about doing our part in protecting the environment in the communities we call home. The lasting impact of making small changes, such as using reusable coffee mugs, can make a significant difference to our environment in the long run.”

Steve Le Poidevin, owner of Muse, said:

“Butterfield approached us to discuss working together to make effective changes that would improve our environment. We worked on a plan to incentivise Butterfield staff to replace their recyclable cups with ‘Keep’ cups.

When employees return, they will receive a healthy discount from Muse as a reward for re-using their cups.

Although we recycle our coffee cups where possible, this will benefit the island’s environment by reducing landfill and the consumption of fossil fuels to move the cups around.”
