Optimus Recruitment is championing the benefits of learning more digital skills, by sponsoring the graduation ceremonies for coding and digital marketing courses at Digital Jersey Hub this month.

The move to partner with Digital Jersey follows a rise in demand for more skills and talent across the digital technology sector. Optimus is keen to help drive the digital revolution, by continuing to supply qualified candidates as well as demonstrate how important these skills-based courses can be in creating more employment opportunities for those seeking to build a career.

Chris Patel, Senior Consultant, Optimus Recruitment said: “Despite there being 3,000 digital professionals on the island, there is a shortage in skills and supply in the market. These courses are part of a wider strategy which seeks to reduce this skills shortage at grass roots level and help individuals get valuable grounding. We are hugely invested in how we address the skills gap and are keen to support Digital Jersey with its objectives.

“Graduates from these courses have a high employability rate and demand for these skills is growing with employers regularly telling us the need is out there. Completing courses, whether you are already in work or not, will set you apart as someone with proven interest in the digital sector and the desire to build a career within it.”

Digital Jersey Hub experienced the highest intake to its digital skills courses to date, with 14 graduating from Coding and 26 from Digital Marketing. The two courses enjoyed a wide age range of attendees aged between 19 and 50 on the courses, who wanted better digital skills for their own businesses or to enhance their role within larger organisations.

Emily Devon, Creative at Üba Studio, graduated from the Digital Marketing course and said: “The digital world is constantly evolving and as a designer, your work needs to remain relevant and applicable to the latest trends and technology. The course has provided me with lots of practical skills which I have been able to efficiently implement and use as part of our client campaigns.”
