Ogier has expanded its Dispute Resolution and Banking and Finance teams in Jersey with the promotion of James Angus, James Lydeard and Kate McCaffrey to partner.

All three became partners of the firm on 1st February having progressed through Ogier’s partner development programme.

“It’s been another outstanding year for our Dispute Resolution and Banking and Finance teams in Jersey, which have retained their top tier rankings both in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK guides. These are three exceptional lawyers who have made significant contributions to the continued growth and success of these teams, and to the culture and achievements of Ogier in Jersey. I’m delighted to welcome them to the partnership,” said Jersey practice partner Raulin Amy.

James Angus has been named one of the UK’s and Channel Islands’ Top 35 Under 35 by e-privateclient for the past three years and is ranked as a Rising Star in Legal 500, and in Chambers UK. He is an experienced disputes lawyer and courtroom advocate. He advises, and represents in court, many of the leading trust companies and financial institutions in Jersey, as well as having strong institutional client relationships in both London and Dublin.

A seasoned litigator in commercial and chancery matters, James brings his significant cross-border insolvency/restructuring experience to bear as part of Ogier’s Restructuring and Corporate Recovery team, as well as having a particular specialism in contentious cross-border estates work.

James Lydeard has broad experience across banking and finance and corporate matters, with particular expertise in fund, leveraged and acquisition finance and acts for a variety of clients including financial institutions, sponsors and corporates.

With a background in the City, and having worked in Ogier’s Cayman Islands office, James has built a strong banking and finance practice, particularly in fund finance and leveraged finance. In 2021, James was selected to be part of Jersey’s #BuildBackBetter initiative which seeks to identify the island’s next generation of sustainable finance leaders.

Kate McCaffrey (shown in the main picture) has been named a Rising Star by Legal 500 and won the Rising Star: Channel Islands Award at the inaugural Euromoney Legal Media Group Europe Awards.
