Ogier’s Corporate team in Jersey has advised WBAFC Holdings Limited on the Jersey aspects of its sale of West Bromwich Albion Football Club.
WBAFC Holdings Limited sold its 87.8% shareholding in West Bromwich Albion Group Limited, the parent company of West Bromwich Albion Football Club, to Bilkul Football WBA, LLC, a company owned by Florida-based entrepreneur Shilen Patel and his father Dr Kiran C. Patel.
Following the sale, Shilen Patel has been named the football club’s new chairman, taking over the reins from Guochuan Lai.
Advising alongside Leeds-based Walker Morris, the Ogier team was led by partner Alexander Curry (pictured), with assistance from senior associate Chloe Watson-Hill and associate Aaron Forster.
Ogier acted previously for West Bromwich Albion giving Jersey legal advice on certain financing transactions with MSD UK Holdings Limited.
Alexander Curry said: “We’re delighted to have assisted our client on this exciting project, which marks a significant milestone in West Bromwich Albion’s history.
“This was a complex and fast-moving transaction, which drew on the considerable M&A experience of our team.”
