A Jersey women’s basketball league has started (Tuesday 19th April) with sponsorship from Jersey law firm, Bedell Cristin.
Running every Tuesday from 19:00-21:00 for 10 weeks, the league is suitable for any females aged 13+ who would like to play basketball in a fun and inclusive environment. No experience is necessary, and the sessions take place at Oakfield Sports Centre.
The firm has a particular affinity with this community initiative as it is organised by one of its employees, Heather Watters, an Associate in its Jersey litigation team. Heather is a keen basketball player and decided to set-up the league to attract some fresh talent to the sport.
Heather said, “I’m delighted that Bedell Cristin agreed to sponsor the women’s basketball league in Jersey. The funds will enable us to introduce basketball to a new audience, and who knows, maybe we will find some new talent for the next Island Games!”
If you’d like to join the league, please email Heather at [email protected] to be assigned to a team or join “Jersey women’s basketball league” on Facebook to find out more.
