Boost, a new training company specialising in communication skills and confidence-building, has launched in Jersey, Guernsey and the UK.
The presentation and media training team, made up of former ITV and Sky News journalists and presenters, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the islands. They will work with local businesses and individuals to boost their confidence, presentation skills and will focus on honing their delivery and messaging for public speaking and media interviews.
Hannah Shellswell, who worked at ITV as a broadcast journalist and presenter for both regional and national news for 15 years, is Boost’s founder.
For the past ten years Hannah has been working as a PR professional and as presentation and media training coach on the island. She announced the launch of her new business venture and partnership with a talented team of eight training coaches, which includes familiar faces from broadcasting including Lucy Cotter and Enda Brady (formerly Sky News) Wesley Smith (ITV regional presenter/reporter) and Gillian Kelly (GMB reporter/producer).
James Hunt, who started his career at ITV Channel, and who has been working as an actor for the past 15 years, will be returning to the Channel Islands this Autumn to lead the team in Guernsey.
Hannah said: “I am thrilled to announce the launch of Boost in the Channel Islands and in the UK. One of people’s greatest fears is public speaking and it can really hold them back, but when they take time to invest in learning the skill of presenting, it really boosts their confidence, and the results are incredible. They come to realise they can excel when delivering in the boardroom, on the stage or in front of camera.
“It’s such a privilege to have the opportunity to work with people to empower them to present with confidence and I am proud to be partnering with such a talented coaching team to offer a comprehensive range of training courses and coaching programmes to support individuals and businesses.”
James Hunt, an accomplished presentation training coach, will lead the team in Guernsey. He has developed his skills in performing and presenting over the past two decades. With an impressive track record of stage and screen performances, including renowned productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, and Donmar Warehouse, James has also made notable appearances on TV shows for the BBC, ITV, and Sky. Having enjoyed playing the part of Draco Malfoy in the West End production of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ for the past 6 years, he is now returning to the Channel Islands to share his skills and knowledge.
James commented: “Introducing Boost to Guernsey this autumn will be an incredibly fulfilling endeavour for me. I am looking forward to moving to the island, with my wife Susie, bringing my expertise to the community and supporting individuals and businesses in honing their presentation and communication skills, enhancing their vocal technique, stage presence and overall confidence.”
