The M&S Fashion, Home and Beauty store in St Brelade is set to be transformed into a brand-new M&S Food, subject to a planning application submitted this week.
The proposed new fresh market-style foodhall would offer customers M&S favourites across two floors, including fresh produce and groceries, as well an in-store bakery serving bread and pastries, and dedicated Flower and Wine Shops.
Under the plans, the new renewal design would deliver a transformed shopping experience for customers from eye-catching high-level graphics to a collect by car service and an updated tilling system. Other changes would include brand-new flooring and the installation of energy-efficient refrigeration.
Work is set to begin Autumn, and the store will temporarily close ahead of the expected re-opening in late Autumn this year.
Sandpiper operates seven M&S stores across Jersey, including St Brelade, King Street, Liberty Wharf, St Clement, St John, St Martin, and St Peter locations. St Brelade would be the fifth standalone M&S Food store.
A Sandpiper spokesperson said: “Assuming we receive the required planning authority to proceed, we look forward to welcoming customers to the new M&S St Brelade foodhall soon and are confident it will be a fantastic addition to the parish.”
An M&S spokesperson, added: “It’s brilliant to have the opportunity to bring M&S Food to even more customers in Jersey and the new store design would make shopping at St Brelade all that more enjoyable and convenient.”
