New drive towards sustainability at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa

L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa has become a driving force behind ensuring visitors get out and about in Jersey in a more sustainable way.

The AA Four Red Star beachside hotel in St Brelade is the first out of town hotel to provide all three different types of charging points in its car park, so drivers can top up their electric cars when they visit.

Commenting on the new facility, Shaun McGachan, L’Horizon’s Hotel Manager, said:

“We are constantly looking at more sustainable ways of running our business. A recent report by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on climate change urges us all to switch to electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.

“We’ve already seen a big increase in the number of our visitors driving electric cars, particularly our European guests, so we’re delighted to be catering for them but this is also a great opportunity for our local visitors who have sustainable living in mind too.

“Some electric cars can go for more than 200 miles before they need topping up so they really are perfect for Jersey’s roads and with the average 100 mile trip with petrol costing £14.14, compared to £1.25 in an electric car, it’s a much more cost effective way of getting around too!”
