A brand new and improved buses.gg website will launch from the beginning of April as soon as Stagecoach takes over operating Guernsey’s scheduled bus service and integrated school bus routes.

In addition to all the latest information on bus timetables, fares and maps, the new website will feature live bus tracking which is currently only available via the app.

After 31st March, the existing buses.gg app will also be superseded with an almost identical app which bus users will be able to download, providing the same useful features. The existing app will direct users to the new app, which will be available on all platforms, ensuring that bus users have the most up to date information.

Stagecoach will also launch a new buses.gg page on Facebook which will provide the latest updates on bus routes.

To achieve an orderly transition between the current operator and the new operator, most other aspects of bus travel will remain the same. Bus timetables will generally remain as they are and any credit or time remaining on a Puffinpass will remain unaffected.

In addition, locally-based staff have been given the opportunity to transfer across to Stagecoach employment and the existing bus fleet and buses.gg branding will remain the same. The bus shop will remain in the same location near the bus terminus and any contact details for the bus operator will remain the same.

Deputy Adrian Gabriel, Vice-President of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure, said: “A significant amount of effort by all parties has been dedicated behind the scenes to ensure a seamless transition to the buses being operated by Stagecoach. We’re particularly pleased that Stagecoach will be transferring locally-based staff across, ensuring that continuity and experience is maintained, while embracing the ethos and values of Stagecoach.

“We’re excited to soon be able to launch this new website with improved functionality, but also improved appearance and better experience for the user. This is really important for regular bus users in Guernsey, but also for visitors we welcome to our island each year, many of whom are frequent bus users, and need simple, clear access to the latest bus information online.”

Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said: “We are looking forward to commencing operation of buses across the Guernsey network from 1st April. We’re already working hard behind the scenes, with the Guernsey based team, to ensure we deliver a high-quality bus service for the local community from 1st April.

“We’re delighted that customers will also benefit from a new and improved website this spring, offering an enhanced customer experience for all local and visiting bus passengers.

“We know how important it is to stay connected to the places and people that matter most. We’re looking forward to sharing this journey with islanders and helping them to get them where they need to be.”
