New appointments at Ravenscroft

Ravenscroft has appointed a new Financial Controller and a Trainee Investment Adviser in Guernsey.

Tristan Brown has joined the investment services company as Financial Controller and Elliott Crowson has begun his investment career with them.

Whilst completing a maths degree at King’s College London, Mr Brown also worked for Sportingbet as an online trader before moving to London as a Customer Intelligence Analyst. He then spent four years with PwC in Guernsey where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with ACCA.

As Financial Controller at Ravenscroft, he will be involved in the monthly performance and regulatory reporting, as well as the interim and year-end statutory reporting. He said he hoped he could use what he has learnt in other roles.

“Having had a portfolio focused mainly on private equity and investment management clients whilst at PwC, I’m hoping to be able to use that knowledge in my role at Ravenscroft. As well as my financial services background, I’m hoping having spent time in an analyst role will help me bring value to the monthly reporting and analysis I’ll be performing,” he said.

“The reputation Ravenscroft has as a successful business as well as a great place to work is evident when you speak to people across the island and is what sets it apart from other companies. If you look at the growth that has been experienced over the years, as well as the calibre of staff throughout all levels, it makes it a really exciting place to work and somewhere I’m proud to be a part of.”

Mr Crowson graduated from Brighton University with a law with business degree last year and then worked for six months before an extended trip to Australia and New Zealand.

His role at Ravenscroft is split between the advisory investment desk and Ravenscroft’s precious metals business, BullionRock, which he said meant it was varied.

“No two days are the same. When working with the investment advisory team I will be researching companies across all sectors looking for investment opportunities and attending meetings with clients and business representatives,” said Mr Crowson, who will be studying for his investment qualifications.

“My role with BullionRock allows me to gain insight into the sale, purchase and storage of precious metal and its investment potential as part of a diversified portfolio. Having a mixed role enables me to gain a greater understanding of Ravenscroft as a whole and learn a multitude of applicable skills.”

Robin Newbould, who has recently been appointed as a Director of Ravenscroft, said that it was essential to expand the team as the business grew.

“Recognising and nurturing talent is something that Ravenscroft does very well and we have a number of senior people who joined from school or university and have progressed their studies and careers with us. That continuity, whether it’s in our client or operations teams, is vital in ensuring we deliver a service which our clients have come to expect and deserve,” he said.

“Tristan and Elliott are part of that and we are delighted to welcome them to the growing group which now has people in Guernsey, Jersey, the UK and Monaco.”
