National Trust walking festival returns with Intertrust support

The National Trust’s Walking Through Autumn Festival is returning for a second year, once again sponsored by Intertrust.

The event runs from 11 to 15 September and offers the public the chance to explore many of the Trust’s sites on foot. Some of the sites are not normally accessible to the public.

There will be at least three guided walks per day visiting a selection of National Trust sites such as Grouville Marsh, Mont Grantez, Morel Farm and Le Moulin de Quetivel. Wildlife-lovers can also enjoy wild flower and nature walks, foraging and a bat walk though St Peter’s Valley at sunset.

Jacob Smed, Managing Director at Intertrust Jersey, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting this event again. It’s a privilege to work with the Trust and be part of protecting and promoting Jersey’s natural beauty and heritage with such a great event.

“There’s something for everyone as the walks focus on the National Trust’s sites and wildlife and so are the perfect opportunity to get out in the fresh air and enjoy autumn with friends and family.”

Donna Le Marrec of The National Trust said: “We’re fortunate to have many wonderful sites, habitats and historic properties within our care and what better way to discover and enjoy them, than with a walking festival? Each walk features a Blue Badge Guide or local expert, depending on the route, and will be tailored around our heritage and natural environment.

“What sets this festival apart is the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes view, which wouldn’t normally be available to the public. It’s the second time the Trust has organised this walking festival and one we hope to continue for many years. We’re very grateful for Intertrust’s support, as without them it simply would not be possible to run such events.”

The festival starts on Wednesday 11 September with the first walk at 10am and finishes on Sunday 15 September at 5pm. All walks are free for National Trust members and £10 per walk for non-members (except the bat walk which is £5 for adults and £1 for children).
