Jersey-based MPI Group has introduced its new investment governance platform, TIGA, at an event for the Island’s fiduciary and investment community at The Royal Yacht.
Around 70 trustees, professional advisers and investment managers from Jersey and beyond gathered at the Sirocco on Wednesday evening for a presentation of the Trustee Investment Governance Application (TIGA).
Developed in Jersey, the platform is built on MPI’s Managed Portfolio Indices, an independent peer group benchmark provided as a free STEP Member Service since 2012.
MPI has been headquartered in St Helier since it was founded. Its indices draw on more than sixteen years of data from over 500,000 live portfolios. TIGA uses this data to support manager selection, performance monitoring and investment governance.
The introduction comes at a time of increased scrutiny of how trustees oversee the investments they are responsible for, and following recent consolidation among the Island’s investment monitoring providers.
MPI remains independently owned, offers no investment products or advisory services, and licenses its data to others across the industry.
James Painter, Managing Director of MPI Group, said: “Jersey has been home to MPI from the start, and it felt right to launch TIGA here first. Trustees are being asked to evidence their investment decisions more rigorously than ever, and TIGA gives them the independent data to do that. It was a pleasure to have so much of the Island’s fiduciary community in the room on Wednesday, stormy weather notwithstanding.”
