Matthew Wilson has joined Smith & Williamson International’s investment management team in Jersey as Director, responsible for providing investment advice and management services to international and Jersey High Net Worth families.

Matthew has 20 years’ experience working in the private banking and wealth management industry in London, Zurich and the Channel Islands. He specialises in working with international families, who have a UK, Irish or Crown Dependency connection, to develop clear goal-oriented investment strategies in keeping with their ethical preferences and values as well as their appetite for risk.  Matthew’s greatest strength is his ability to work with key advisers to leverage business and professional networks for the benefit of the client.

“I am excited about joining Smith & Williamson at this time and am passionate about growing the reputation of Smith and Williamson locally and of the Channels Islands internationally,” said Matthew. “The business is dynamic and innovative and offers an opportunity to work alongside extremely professional and skilled people in an organisation of real scale and substance.”

Smith & Williamson International was founded in 2016 by local wealth industry professionals, Aidan McAvinue, Simon O’Donoghue and Christopher Golding.

“Matthew’s appointment reflects our continuing commitment to identify and attract the brightest talent in our industry”, said Christopher Golding, Head of Investments at Smith & Williamson International. “Our Jersey-based team has grown our client base in the three years since we were established and that is testimony to the breadth of skills and knowledge they possess, and the service they provide. Matthew will further strengthen our ability to deliver high-quality investment advice and management services.”

Matthew holds a Joint Honours Degree in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Durham, is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Smith & Williamson has been providing professional accountancy, investment management and tax services to private, trust and corporate clients in the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands, for over a century. Smith & Williamson continues to expand on its tax advisory and investment management services in the islands as part of a wider international strategy via London and Jersey.
